Message for the parents of Ribault MCJROTC parents. School Year 2008 is well underway.  We have just over 100 cadets in the program with a pretty good mix at every level. Every new year seems to come with new challenges. This year, the school is on the A/B schedule. The adjustment has been awkward for some. When you have classes every other day, two things happen. First, the change in “rhythm” can be just plain confusing. Second, some students tend to be lazy with their study habits, because they know they will not have a certain class until “day after tomorrow.” For Thursday classes, it’s four days to the next session. This is not the time to slack off. As we tell our cadets every day, what you do now will have impact for the rest of your life. Discipline, responsibility, hard work and solid study habits will be absolutely necessary to succeed. This is where the parent or guardian comes into the game. We all have to be fully engaged if our charges are to do their best. In plain language, that means we have to be on ’em to take care of business. If we’re not, they won’t. That means, for example, that they must do their work for today’s classes tonight so they don’t have two days worth to do tomorrow night.
We have promoted a few cadets and will be promoting several more before the holidays. We will try to post pictures here.
Our Booster parents have kicked off the fundraising season with old-fashioned Marine Corps gung ho. Please, contact one of the officers to learn what you can do. Go to the Boosters page for that information.

The Birthday Ball was a great success. Thank you all for your wonderful support. We will try to post some pictures here soon.

Regards,

Colonel Watson
