Meeting Minutes
3/27/07

Meeting called to order by Amanda Osenbaugh at 7:10 pm.

Tax Exempt Status
Discussion about whether to become a non-profit organization; this would allow donors to take their donations off on their taxes. Need to approve articles of incorporation and by-laws first. Dean Black will have his CPA help us through the process.

Passed: Articles of incorporation; By-Laws

Promotion Ceremony
May 5th, 2007 at 10:00. This will also involve a new student orientation and awards ceremony. We will send out formal invitations and include families who have indicated an interest in joining the program.

Re: food; nominated serving spaghetti, bread, bottled water, cakes; Ms. Andrews will try to get donations of cake from Publix. Ms. Murphy volunteered to get ground beef from her work (Beaver Foods); she asked Col. to send a letter so they can subsidize the lunch.

Volunteers to help: Jason Zug, Hazel Morningstar, Linda Watson, Marilyn Fears, Ms. Wells

Camping Trip
Was a great success; Hannah Park reported that the cadets did the best job of policing that they have ever had. We would like to make this an annual event.

Nominations for Booster Club Officers
Voting will take place at the May meeting.
o Nomination for president: Amanda Osenbaugh
o Nomination for vice president: Hazel Morningstar
o Nomination for treasurer: Shelia Andrews
o Nomination for secretary: Lisa Bell

Suggestions
Request to send reminders for volunteers. We will attempt to do so.

Magnet Advisory Council
Ms. Andrews is a member; May 8th at Cummer Museum from 4:00 to 6:00 is Magnet Wild Fire. All are invited to attend and advertise the program. Awards are given; Ms. Andrews will send the list to Col. for posting on the web.

Phone Tree
Volunteers requested; Ms. Anderson, Ms. Morningstar and Ms. Wells volunteered.

Treasurer Report
Col. reported the audit came out clean.

Business Partner Letter
Col. will send out a letter to all businesses in the areas to solicit donations.

Fund Raising
The sponsor book brought in approximately $1100; most ads were posted on the website and more to come. Please let Lisa Bell know if you see any errors. One hard copy will be available at the school; one will be given to sponsors who have requested them (only one so far.)

The contract with Aramark (cafeteria) does not allow them to sell candy in the cafeteria; it was reported that the boosters are not allowed to distribute candy to students at school or sell at school. Col. will find out what the actual rules are.

Other ideas of things to sell: license plates, lanyards, pencils, pens, dog tags, Sgt. Grit, Panera, teacher supply depot (Col. and Sgt. can go and get whatever they want.)

New T-shirts
Anyone can buy one for $10; Col. is considering whether to mandate them for PT in the fall.

Parris Island
The annual trip will take place April 10th -13th for Marine Corps field trip; need $150 from the boosters to finish paying for the trip; vote passed. We are covered for chaperones. Permission slips and Hold Harmless agreements are due Friday, 3/30/07.

Tower of Terror
We’re up and running; come out and see it

New 9th graders open house
April 12th, 6:30 pm, cadets will supply the color guard.

Next booster club meeting: April 18th, 11:00 at the school.
Meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
